Your spleen is probably the most ignored organ in your body, quietly clocking in every day while your heart and brain get all the credit. We don’t wake up wondering how our spleen is doing. We don’t usually feel it the way we feel our heart race or our stomach tighten. It just goes about its work all day.
Physically…
Your spleen filters your blood. It breaks down old red blood cells and helps your body reuse the parts that still have value. It stores platelets. It works closely with your immune cells. All day long, blood moves through your spleen, and it participates in both clearing and strengthening that blood.
Metaphysically…
Your spleen carries the imprint of discernment. It is tied to your instinctive sense of what is healthy for you and what drains you. You feel that in real life when you walk into a room, and your body tightens before your mind understands why. You feel it when someone speaks, and something in your chest or belly responds immediately. You feel it when you say yes to something and later realize your body never agreed. That is your spleen sending a signal out.
Many of us override that signal. We push through conversations that exhaust us. We replay situations long after they have finished. We stay engaged with dynamics that leave us depleted. When that happens, we keep circulating emotional residue. That emotional residue energetically burdens the spleen.
