Optimizing Your Circadian Rhythm for Better Sleep!

This month’s Medigraytion®® is focused on your circadian rhythm and how your body keeps an internal clock.

Behind your eyes,  there is a small area in your brain called the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN). It takes in all the information your eyes experience. What you see during the day and at night tells your brain when to release cortisol, when to release melatonin, when to wake your organs up, and when to let them rest and repair.

When this timing gets off, your body receives mixed signals. You can feel tired at night and still stay alert inside. Sleep can feel light or broken. Your hormones, digestion, immune system, and nervous system stop moving in a clear rhythm.

This month’s Medigraytion®® works directly with that light-based timing system. You’ll experience waves of blue and amber light moving through your body, the same colors your brain uses to understand daytime and nighttime. These waves move slowly through your eyes, brain, nervous system, and organs, giving your body a chance to remember its natural rhythm again.

This Medigraytion®® works well in the evening, before bed, or anytime you want to help your body reset its sense of time. You’ll find the new Medigraytion® waiting for you in the Sleep Series and through the link below,

Sleep tight!

Laura

FYI: The term “Sleep tight” comes from old English bedding, back when mattresses were made from ropes stretched across a bed frame. To keep the bed comfortable, the ropes had to be pulled tight. If they loosened, the bed sagged, and sleep felt awful. So telling someone to “sleep tight” meant wishing them a night where the ropes stayed firm, and the bed held them properly.
